Pre-pregnancy consultation:

	Home visit to provide information on planning for a healthy pregnancy.
	Rubella and haemoglobin status blood tests if desired.

Consultation:

Home visit to provide information about maternity services and the choices available.

Ante natal care:

	Visits in the woman's home or place of her choice.
	Detailed initial consultation.
	Planned home visits to confirm normal progress throughout pregnancy and detect any deviation from normality.
	Information and support to build the woman's confidence in her ability to give birth and develop parenting skills.
	Appropriate blood tests and ultrasound scan if desired.
	Direct referral to an obstetrician in the event of a deviation from normality.

Labour care:

	Full midwifery care throughout labour at home.
	Direct referral to an obstetrician in the event of a deviation from normality whilst continuing to provide advocacy and support in hospital.

Post natal care:

	Planned visits in hospital and/or at home to monitor well-being of mother and baby.
	Support in establishing breast feeding.
	Routine screening tests on the baby.
	Liaison with the GP and Health Visitor.
	24 hour emergency support.
